Civic Resources and Updates

  • Ohio Primary Election Changes – The Ohio Election has been extended to April 28. Votes must be cast by absentee ballot only. Learn more and take action here.
  • Census 2020 – Complete the 2020 Census, which will determine congressional representation, impact decisions made around billions in federal funding every year, and provide data that will impact communities for the next decade. Learn more.

Educational Resources and Relief

  • EverFi Family Digital Education Portal – Free, quality educational content on more than 20 of life’s most critical topics. Simply enter your state and your child’s school name to receive the full catalog of age-appropriate courses for your child. Click here.
  • Keep Americans Connected Pledge – Internet providers pledge that they will not terminate service to any residential or small business customer for failure to pay during the pandemic; they will waive late fees for those customers, and open their Wi-Fi hotspots to anyone who needs them. Several providers have signed up to participate in this program. Sign up with your local providers: see details, providers and listing here.
  • Spectrum Free Internet for Students – Families with K-12 students can receive free broadband and internet service for 60 days; installation fees are waived. Call (844) 488-8395 to get started.

Employment Resources and Relief

  • The Job Center – Help for Montgomery County residents in applying for jobs and unemployment benefits. Learn more.

Family Resources and Relief

  • Ohio Department of Job and Family Services
    • Ongoing food, Medicaid, cash benefit, WIC, work, childcare and special needs support resources are available here. To apply for Cash, SNAP or Medicaid over the phone, please call (844) 640-6446 Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00pm.
    • Childcare: information for families in need of childcare, including Pandemic-approved sites. Click here.
    • SNAP & TANF benefit re-certifications are temporarily suspended. Contact your provider for your new date.
  • Montgomery County Job and Family Services Remote Services – Details surrounding family assistance, children services and child support services during the pandemic can be found here.
  • Senior Resource Connection – Resources and support for seniors, including access to Meals on Wheels. Click here or call (937) 228-3663 (food) or (855) 854-8778.
  • School District Food Distribution – Various school districts are offering students free breakfast and lunch to their students. Distribution times and processes vary by district; check with your local school district for details.
  • United Way HelpLink – Resources for housing, food, and emergency support. Dial 211, (937) 225-3000 or visit United Way Helplink.
  • Dayton Region/Montgomery County Community Resource Guide – Information surrounding community organizations and resources for families. Learn more.
  • Franklin County Community Resource Guide – Resource information to help families in the Columbus/Franklin County communities. Learn more.
  • Family Resources for Columbus Residents – Helpful information regarding COVID-19 assistance for families living in the city of Columbus. Learn more.
  • Montgomery County ADAMHS and Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley – The Miami Valley Warmline will provide free and confidential mental and behavioral health peer-support services to the community Monday through Friday, from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm. Call (937) 528-7777.

Federal Resources and Relief

  • CARES Act Relief Package – The government signed a $2 trillion Act to support individuals and businesses during the COVID-19 crisis. Read WPCU’s summary of benefits to our members and consumers here.
  • Internal Revenue Service
    • Federal Tax Returns – deadline for filing has been extended to July 15, 2020. The due date for estimated federal tax for 2020 has also been postponed. Learn more here.
      • Those receiving a refund or requesting further extensions are still encouraged to file now.
    • Federal Student Loan payments and interest has been suspended until September 30, 2020.
  • U.S. Small Business Administration – Small Business Disaster loans are available to assist small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of the disaster. Food Resources and Relief

  • The Food Bank – Food resources are available for those in need. Drive-thru distributions available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm to assist clients (must bring identification). Appointments are available for those who do not have transportation. Please call (937) 461-0265, ext. 31.
  • Good Neighbor House (GNH) – The food pantry at GNH will remain open for clients Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 2:30 pm. Clients are able to phone in or ring the doorbell at the front door to place their food order and pick it up in our drive through. Learn more.
  • School District Food Distribution – Various school districts are offering students free breakfast and lunch to their students. Distribution times and processes vary by district; check with your local school district for details.
  • USDA National Hunger Hotline – Provides information about food banks in a neighborhood near you. Call (866) 348-6479 or (877) 842-6273.

Housing & Utility Resources and Relief

Electric, Gas and Water Utilities – Ohio utility companies are providing relief for business and residential customers, by developing payment options, ceasing disconnections for overdue customers and waiving late fees in some cases. Please contact your specific utility companies for more details.

  • City of Dayton Eviction Moratorium – A moratorium has been put in place to protect families from disconnections and home evictions. City of Dayton eviction proceedings are suspended until April 30, 2020.
  • Miami Valley Community Action Partnership – Income eligible customers who are currently disconnected may be assisted through this program to receive water, gas, electric reconnection.
  • Miami Valley Fair Housing – Families experiencing housing discrimination or issues due to COVID-19 fears can file a report or call (937) 223-6035.
